In July,
The partners processed more than 715 tonnes of diamond-bearing ultramafic material from 10 trenches to generate nearly 21 tonnes of concentrates. The program was designed to yield a parcel of diamonds to confirm the presence of gem-quality stones and determine a grade for the deposit.
The partners installed a plant capable of processing six tonnes per day. The concentrate has been forwarded to the Nomos laboratory in Brazil for final diamond recovery and evaluation. Guyanor and Rio Tinto expect results from the testing in the fourth quarter, somewhat later than originally anticipated due to the larger sample size and other shipping and processing delays.
Rio Tinto has an option to earn a 70% interest in the joint venture by spending US$17 million or making a production decision.
