KEGS distributes five scholarships

The Canadian Exploration Geophysical Society (KEGS) has awarded its first five scholarships to undergraduate students enrolled in geophysics at various universities.

The scholarship program is part of the one-year-old KEGS Foundation, which aims to replenish the ranks of exploration geophysicists by offering support to Canadian post-secondary students.

The five students were each given a cash award of $500-1,000. Two other applicants were given vouchers for $250 to purchase selected texts.

The winners were: Simon Beaulieu of cole Polytechnique; Jeff Closson of the University of Saskatchewan; Wes Hamlyn of Memorial University; Chad Hewson of the University of British Columbia; and Adam Jones of the University of Western Ontario.
