GSN meeting set for spring

The Geological Society of Nevada (GSN) will host a symposium May 15-18 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Reno.

The GSN conference is held every five years. Featured this year will be lectures on various subjects: the origins of world-class ore systems; ore deposits in volcanic terranes; the geology of Nevada; tectonics and ore deposits; ore deposit models; environmental geology; exploration technology; and descriptions of new discoveries. These sessions will comprise the bulk of the symposium.

Short courses will focus on: due diligence; geochemical surveying; structural geology; reserve estimating; geographic information systems; quality control during exploration; and Cordilleran porphyry deposits.

Also planned are 10 field trips to mines and deposits in Arizona, California and Nevada, as well as a trade show and core exhibitions.

For more information, contact the GSN at (775) 323-4569 or visit the society’s web site as http://www.gsnv.org
