The new breed of Western Australian dry laterite nickel projects will be discussed at a Nov. 25 luncheon sponsored by the Vancouver branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, to be held at the Stanley Park Pavilion.
Alex Doll, metallurgist for Fluor Daniel, will introduce three such projects that have come on-stream in 1999: Murrin Murrin, Bulong and Cawse. These projects all use pressure-acid-leach (PAL) technology to release nickel and cobalt from the laterite ores, though each uses a unique process to upgrade the metal.
Reservations are required by Nov. 23. For more information, contact Alistair Kent at (604) 664-3109. Fax: (604) 664-4275. E-mail: alistair.kent@agra.com
