Encouraged by results from preliminary evaluations of four diamondiferous kimberlite pipes at the AK-CJ project in the Northwest Territories, operator Monopros is set to begin a bulk-sampling program.
Monopros, a subsidiary of De Beers Consolidated Mines (DBRS-Q), recovered 205 carats of diamonds from a 62.6-tonne sample from the Hearne pipe. The largest diamonds recovered weighed 1.87 carats and 1.8 carats. In all, the company recovered seven stones weighing at least 1 carat, 24 greater than 0.5 carat and 160 greater than 0.2 carat.
The Hearne pipe was determined to have an overall grade of 3.28 carats per tonne.
At the Tesla pipe, Monopros recovered 25.9 carats from a 60-tonne sample.
None of the stones weighed more than 1 carat.
The Tesla pipe was determined to have an average grade of 0.43 carat per tonne.
Results from test sampling of the 5034 pipe are pending.
The AK-CJ project is held 50% by Mountain Province Mining (MPV-V), 40% by Glenmore Highlands (GMH-A) and 10% by Camphor Ventures (CFV-V). Monopros is earning a 60% interest by funding exploration and conducting bulk-sample tests, among other obligations.
