Six holes drilled by Romios Gold Resources (RGRI-C) at its Lundmark-Akow Lake property in northwestern Ontario have returned varying grades of gold mineralization.
A total of 2,185 metres of drilling was conducted on a deformation zone on which surface sampling recovered high gold values. Results include: 2.4 metres grading 0.71 gram gold per tonne and 1 metre of 1.02 grams in hole 1; 3.2 metres of 1.75 grams, including 1 metre of 4.4 grams and 0.7 metre of 5.77 grams, in hole 2; 1 metre of 2.9 grams and 0.7 metre of 14.96 grams in hole 3; and 2.7 metres of 2.76 grams, including 0.8 metre of 6.52 grams, in hole 4. Hole 6 and 14 returned anomalous values.
Eight holes were also drilled to test conductors with signatures that may indicate gold-bearing sulphide zones. Six of those holes intersected sulphide zones consisting of pyrrhotite with some pyrite, chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite.
Drilling has defined three areas of potential significance: holes 12 and 13 encountered 10 to 20 metres of semi-massive to massive sulphide mineralization, as well as a mineral assemblage containing anomalous gold; hole 11 identified similar sulphide mineralization; and hole 9 encountered more than 30 metres of disseminated chalcopyrite in a garnetiferous sericite schist.
A second phase of drilling has been planned, and geophysical surveys to further evaluate the deformation zone downdip and along strike have also been scheduled.
