Toronto-based Minorca Resources (MAR-T) recently purchased 1.3 million shares of Canarc Resource (CCM-T), and followed up this $1-million private placement by acquiring an additional 800,000 Canarc shares in a private transaction.
Canarc holds several gold properties in North and South America, as well as exploration ground in Indonesia. President Bradford Cooke says Minorca’s investment will help Canarc add value to its existing gold properties and enhance its ability “to pursue attractive acquisitions and joint ventures during this time of low gold prices.”
Earlier this year, Minorca purchased a 12.2% equity stake in Dayton Mining (DAY-T), which owns and operates the Andacollo open-pit gold mine near La Serena, Chile. Minorca also holds a 32% interest in McWatters Mining (MCW-M), owner and operator of the Kiena and Sigma gold mines in Val d’Or, Que.
