DIAMOND PAGE — KAP joint venture expands property holdings

The KAP joint venture has augmented its land position in north-central Ontario, following encouraging results from a heavy-mineral sampling program carried out by the Ontario Geological Survey (OGS).

Partners Canabrava Diamond (CNB-V) and Paramount Ventures & Finance (PVF-V) are staking ground in the Woman Falls-Wakusimi River area south of Kapuskasing, where the government sampling took place; no final acreage figure has been made available.

The KAP project had been confined to four claim blocks totalling 120,000 ha, situated north of Wawa and south of Kapuskasing.

In the OGS program, 201 alluvium samples were collected across the area, yielding a significant number of kimberlite indicator minerals, including chrome pyrope garnets, chromites, picro-ilmenites and chrome diopsides. Of particular importance is the presence of four G10 garnets, two of which have highly favorable compositions for the presence of diamonds.

A variety of geological evidence, including the nature of the till material sampled and the morphological features of the individual grains, indicates that the source kimberlites are close by. The OGS study identified six areas and five individual sites with potential for diamond exploration. Several of these areas are within the KAP project area, and the recent staking has covered certain of the others.

High Sense Geophysics has received results from a 8,600-line-km, high-resolution, airborne magnetic and electromagnetic/very-low-frequency survey recently completed on the KAP project.

Paramount reports that high-

priority anomalies have been identified from a preliminary review of the results of airborne geophysical surveys completed over the area.

A $4-million exploration program has been initiated, and fieldwork will commence as soon as weather permits.

Canabrava is 52%-owned by Southwestern Gold (swg-t).
