Atna Resources (ATN-T) and partner Westmin Resources (VMI-T) have announced a 17.5% increase in the in situ mineral resource of the Wolverine massive sulphide deposit in southeastern Yukon.
The resource is now pegged at 6.2 million tonnes grading 1.76 grams gold and 370.9 grams silver per tonne, as well as 1.33% copper, 1.55% lead and 12.66% zinc.
Atna has a 40% interest in the deposit, with Westmin holding the remainder.
The new calculations were made by including an additional 19 holes, drilled during the previous year. The average thickness of the deposit has decreased slightly to 5.1 metres. This is a result of drilling along the margins of the deposit.
The bulk of the tonnage, about 5.9 million tonnes, is concentrated in the Wolverine and Lynx lenses. The resource in these lenses is classified as indicated.
A total of 48% of the tonnage occurs within 25 metres of a drill intersection; 48% lies 25 to 50 metres from an intersection; and 8% is 50 to 75 metres from a drill intersection. In the two upper lenses above the Lynx zone, an additional inferred resource of 340,000 tonnes exists.
Resource calculations by H.A. Simons utilized a gridded seam model in which scaled blocks are fitted to a 3-dimensional model of the deposit. Westmin verified the calculation by using in-house polygonal calculations.
