Sparton drills gold at Hanover project in Timmins camp

A first phase of drilling by Sparton Resources (SPTN-C) has intersected multiple zones of gold mineralization on the Harrower property in Timmins, Ont.

The program included 11 drill holes, comprising 2,250 metres. Six of the holes returned significant results, of which five intersected two or more zones of mineralization.

The lowest reported gold value — 1.09 grams per tonne over 0.9 metre — came from hole 6. The hole also returned the highest value, 81.3 grams over 0.8 metre, which occurred in a wider, 3.2-metre interval averaging 22.04 grams.

Other results include: hole 1, which intersected six separate zones, the best two of which averaged 6.04 grams over 6.8 metres and 6.04 grams over 7.8 metres; hole 2, which hit seven separate zones varying from 0.9 metre averaging 1.23 grams to 12.7 metres averaging 7.26 grams; and hole 4, which yielded 5.49 grams over 0.9 metre and 4.58 grams over 10.7 metres.

The mineralization was intersected along an east-west strike length of 50 metres and down to a depth of 80 metres below surface. The zone varies in thickness from 5 to 8 metres, dips to the south and plunges steeply to the east.

Sparton plans to conduct a second phase of drilling to test the downdip and down-plunge extent of mineralization.
