Son of Sodmex launched

Montreal-based Capital d’Amrique, a company linked with the public fund manager Caisse de dp(tm)t et placement du Quebec, is investing $15 million to start up Sodmex II, a Quebec-based exploration and development company.

Sodmex I was created in December 1996.

Sodmex II will be geared toward investing in junior mining companies involved in the export market and those firms with a capitalization of less than $125 million.

The original Sodmex, a joint venture between Capital d’Amrique and provincially owned Soquem, will continue to invest in exploration companies active in Quebec, as well as junior producers based in that province.
