Doyle drilling yields no kimberlite

Monopros, the Canadian exploration arm of De Beers Consolidated Mines (dbrs-q), completed 20 holes totalling 2,366 metres during a spring drilling program on the LA 1-25 claims of the Doyle Lake project in the Northwest Territories.

The program tested a series of geophysical targets, many of which were under lakes. No kimberlite was intersected, and the anomalies were found to be caused by variable magnetite within the granite and granite gneiss country rocks.

Monopros can earn a 60% interest in the Doyle Lake project from Gerle Gold (ggl-v) by spending $4.6 million by the end of 1997.

As of May 31, Monopros had spent $4.3 million on the project.
