Smelter slated for Mozambique

Montreal-based SNC Lavalin and South Africa-based Engineering Management Services will join forces to build a US$1-billion aluminum smelter in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique.

Construction of the smelter is expected to begin in October and last three years. The design will be similar to the US$1.5-billion smelter built by the same joint venture in Richard’s Bay, South Africa.
