A first-phase exploration program is planned by Blue Desert Mining (BDE-V) for the Snowstorm project in the Midas district of Nevada.
The district is a new gold camp being established in the northern part of the Carlin trend.
Blue Desert recently suspended drilling at its Golden Sage property in Humboldt Cty. after completing seven rotary drill holes. The company says drilling conditions proved to be difficult, and delays were experienced as a result of side-wall caving and lost circulation zones. Several holes were terminated short of their target depth.
One of two holes completed into bedrock in a gravel-filled valley intersected altered volcanics with anomalous amounts of antimony, arsenic and mercury.
Three holes drilled at the Central Fault were intended to test for high-grade feeder structures below previous holes which intersected 20 ft. grading 0.33 oz. gold per ton. Two of the holes were abandoned prematurely because of technical problems, while the third also experienced massive circulation losses. Though some gold-bearing intervals were intersected, these results were not released, owing to fears of contamination related to inadequate sampling returns and the introduction of drill-fluid additives.
Blue Desert believes its Golden Sage project remains a valid drilling target for gold. Toward this end, the Vancouver-based junior is discussing a joint venture with a major mining company as a means of financing further drilling on the Central Fault and on additional targets on the property.
Blue Desert is also exploring its recently acquired Nuevo Ano and Enero projects in Chile.
