Two symposiums on exploration in northwestern Ontario and the Timmins area are scheduled for April.
The Northwestern Ontario Mining and Mineral Symposium will be held at the Vallhala Inn in Thunder Bay from April 15 to 16. The event will be sponsored by the Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association.
The Northeastern Ontario Mining and Mineral Symposium will be held at the Porcupine campus of Northern College in Timmins from April 21 to 22. The sponsor for this meeting will be the Porcupine Prospectors and Developers Association.
The conferences will feature poster sessions and technical talks as well as presentations by regional geologists and government and industry representatives.
The keynote speaker at the Thunder Bay meeting will be Lee Barker, vice-president of SouthernEra Resources. At the Timmins symposium, the keynote address will be given by James Franklin, director of the Geological Survey of Canada.
Each conference will be followed by a 2-day workshop on exploration safety, sponsored by the Ontario Natural Resources Safety Association.
