Improvements to Ontario’s geographical information system have made information about the province’s mining industry easier to access.
The Computerized Mining Lands Information Management System (CLAIMS) recently received upgrades to its client service, including complete information about the province’s mining claims and a new electronic bulletin board system.
Prospectors and mining companies can now access information about the province’s mining claims from any of Ontario’s nine recorders’ offices. With the old system, only information falling under the jurisdiction of each respective office was available. Now, province-wide information, including regional township, client and claims summary reports, is available electronically from any recorders’ office.
The upgrade also includes an electronic bulletin board that provides information such as revisions to mining act forms and revised policies.
