Results from an 11-hole drill program on High River Gold Mines’ (T-HRG) Taparko property in Burkina Faso indicate that the GT zone has a minimum strike length of 300 metres.
One of six gold-bearing zones identified along the 5-km-long Taparko structure, the GT zone is estimated to contain a gold resource of 109,000 tonnes grading an average of 14.4 grams per tonne.
High River intersected economic grades in five of the 11 holes. The best results include 12.9 grams (0.38 oz.) gold per tonne over 4.9 metres and 15.5 grams (0.45 oz.) per tonne over 10.4 metres.
By trenching in overburden to the south of the GT zone, High River was also able to extend the gold-bearing quartz vein system by 120 metres. The company is now testing this southern extension with a follow-up drill program. The other five zones on the property will be tested during the next exploration phase.
Mineralization at Taparko occurs within a shear zone
with near-vertical quartz veins. The host rocks are mainly deeply weathered, metamorphosed volcanics and sedimentary units.
