As part of an ongoing drill program at the Tabakoto gold project in the Kenieba region of western Mali, 90% owner Nevsun Resources (NSU-T) has announced drill results from 16 holes.
Further testing along a mineralized porphyritic monzonite dyke, previously defined along a north-south strike length of 1,850 metres, encountered new zones of gold mineralization perpendicular to the known stockwork mineralization.
Preliminary work suggests the new zones are hosted in two sets of conjugate structures, which cut across the dyke zone at oblique angles.
Of the 10 holes reported, T-54 intersected 137.3 ft. grading 0.85 oz. gold per ton, as well as 53.9 ft. grading 0.28 oz. Both intervals were encountered in the new crosscutting structure.
Hole T-56 also intersected a significant 58.8 ft. grading 4.61 oz. in a cross-cutting structure, plus 49 ft. grading 1.65 oz. within the north-south trending dyke. Hole T-60 cut 22.9 ft. of 0.26 oz. in the cross structure.
Nevsun cautions that an estimate of the true thickness of the cross-cutting structures cannot be made until significant additional drilling is completed.
Nevsun has drilled 68 holes to date at the Tabakoto project.
