Accident claims life in Kyrgyzstan

A Canadian man was killed in early June in an industrial accident in Kyrgyzstan.

Kevin Lane, of Edmonton, Alta., was killed when he fell 12 metres while working at the Kumtor mill. The mill is part Cameco’s Kumtor gold project in the Tien-Shan mountain range, near the Chinese border.

Lane, an iron worker, was employed by Alto Construction, based in Esterhazy, Sask. The company is under contract to Kumtor Operating Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cameco. The accident is being investigated.
