In the Chivu district of central Zimbabwe, Toronto-listed Redaurum (RRK-T) has discovered an ultramafic body containing kimberlitic minerals.
The minerals were identified by electron microprobe after samples were taken from shallow pits into a defined body of ultramafic rock. Several other geophysical anomalies have been identified nearby and are being investigated.
Redaurum has a 50% interest in the joint-venture, which has exclusive prospecting rights to the area surrounding the discovery.
The company notes that because the sample material was highly weathered, deeper pits would have to be dug to seek less-weathered rock which could be classed with more certainty. At this point, the partners would also be able to ascertain the body’s diamond content.
