Campbell Res. expands at Santa Gertrudis

An additional 71 sq. km have been added to the land package at the Santa Gertrudis property in Sonora state, Mexico, giving owner Campbell Resources (TSE) a total holding of 199 sq. km.

About half the additional land was acquired through staking, and Campbell has signed option agreements with five parties to earn the rights to the remainder.

The company continues to drill exploration targets in the mine area. At the Manueles Norte prospect, the company intersected 7.5 metres grading 2.64 grams gold per tonne.

At Camello, a recent intersection had an average gold grade of 1.22 grams per tonne over 24.3 metres. At a third prospect, Sofia, an 18-metre intersection graded 1.08 grams.

At the Melissa prospect, drilling intersected 16.5 metres grading 2.3 grams gold and 15 metres grading 3.2 grams. To enlarge the resource, stepout drilling will be carried out. At the Carolina prospect, only sub-economic mineralization was encountered.

At Campbell’s Joe Mann mine, near Chibougamau, Que., the company is studying the feasibility of deepening the No. 2 shaft to develop the orebody at lower levels. Underground exploration of the West zone is continuing.
