Marc Ellemers was presented with the 1995 David Money Memorial Award at a recent ceremony at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont.
A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Ellemers worked for Cameco and Uranerz Exploration & Mining on uranium and gold exploration before enrolling in the MinEx program at Queen’s. He is currently employed by Uranerz U.S.A., in Reno, Nev.
The medal was presented to Ellemers by Dr. Robert Mason, director of the MinEx program. The medal is minted in gold-plated Falconbridge nickel, in memory of David Money, who was a geologist at the Strathcona mine in Sudbury before entering the MinEx program in 1991. He was killed in a tragic accident in 1993, while working for Falconbridge Exploration.
The medal is awarded annually to the best all-around student graduating from the MinEx program. Douglas Arantes of WMC International in Brazil was presented the first medal, for 1994, earlier this year.
