Atapa samples gold property in Peru

Results from preliminary sampling on the Mauli concession in Peru have prompted Atapa Minerals (CDN) to proceed with mapping, trenching and diamond drilling.

The property lies 50 miles from Lima, within a region that has been mined for gold since the beginning of Spanish colonization.

The work was carried out on five veins in the southwestern quarter of the property, each of which has a strike length exceeding 4,900 ft. The footwall and hangingwall alteration zones were also sampled.

The best results ran 0.31 oz. over 36.1 ft., 0.15 oz. over 39.4 ft., and 0.36 oz. over 9.9 ft. Values ranged between 0.16 and 1.15 oz. gold per ton, while widths varied from 2.3 to 36.1 ft. Half the widths measured fewer than 5 ft.

Atapa can acquire the 2,225-acre property subject to a 5% net profits interest.
