Normabec explores for base metals

In the Matagami region of northern Quebec, Normabec Mining Resources (ME) is exploring for nickel-copper sulphides and precious metals.

Normabec entered an agreement with Soquem to acquire an interest in Soquem’s nickel-copper property at Lac Shallow, 30 km southeast of Matagami. To earn a 50% working interest, Normabec must perform $75,000 worth of exploration work in the first year and $50,000 over the remaining two years.

The property has a nickel-copper showing in an anorthosite host rock. The best intersection had grades of 0.8% nickel and 0.42% copper over 8.8 metres.

Normabec has also started the second phase of exploration on its Noyell gold property south of Matagami, where a mineralized shear zone 700 metres in length, ranging from 0.5 to 1.15 metres wide, was discovered previously. Gold assays on the shear zone included values from 1.1 to 9.3 grams per ton.
