Closely spaced infill drilling on the Boleo copper-cobalt property in Baja California Sur, Mexico, is confirming previous grades and thickness for International Curator Resources (TSE).
The work is being carried out on the Saturno reserve block, where holes 151 through 163, which were drilled on 50-metre centres, demonstrate the continuity of the No. 3 ore bed in the area of the proposed starter pit.
The 13 holes returned an average grade of 2.03% copper-equivalent (based on a 15-times multiplier for cobalt) over an average width of 11.23 metres at an average depth of 10.3 metres.
Copper-cobalt mineralization at Boleo is hosted in a series of flat-lying, sedimentary beds.
Curator is blocking out reserves suitable for strip mining and leaching. Metallurgical studies are continuing, and work to date indicates that recoveries of 85% for copper and 70% for cobalt are achievable using an agitation leaching system.
The strip-minable oxide resource in the Saturno and adjacent Mercurio area was last estimated at 60 million tonnes grading 0.8% copper and 0.07% cobalt. The stripping ratio in the Saturno area is estimated in the 3-to-1 range, while the ratio at Mercurio is estimated at 8-to-1.
The company expects to release an updated resource estimate for Saturno-Mercurio in October.
Two infill drill rigs are turning in the Saturno-Mercurio area, while a third is testing new ground west of Saturno.
A fourth rig has just arrived and will be used to conduct deeper drilling on the Apolo and Montado areas.
Curator holds a 10% interest in Boleo and can buy the remaining 90% subject to a 3% net profits interest (NPI) in the first three years of production, a 9% NPI during the next three years, and an 18% NPI thereafter.
