Accident-free year at Hope Brook

The Hope Brook gold mine, on the southwestern coast of Newfoundland, has reached a full year of operation without a lost-time accident.

The milestone, reached in early April, is the first in the project’s history. The mine, owned by Royal Oak Mines, employs 265 full-time and about 15 part-time employees who together worked more than 500,000 hours to establish the record.

On March 1, the mill and assay laboratory at the mine site reached 1,000 days without recording a lost-time accident.
