Early results from a drilling program by Castillian Resources (CT-V) on the Mangabal nickel project in western Goias state, Brazil, show a couple of near-surface mineralized intersections.
Castillian, which is earning a 50% interest in the project from Xstrata (XTA-L), is drilling down dip and along strike extensions from earlier mineralization drilled by Falconbridge in 2005.
Hole CRMS07-008 intersected 9.45 metres that graded 1.17% nickel, with 0.28% copper and 0.03% cobalt. A second deeper intersection in the same hole ran 1.22% nickel, 0.22% copper and 0.04% cobalt over 3 metres.
Five other holes are complete, with assay results pending, and three of those intersected sulphide mineralization. Another 14 holes are planned for this phase of drilling.
