Narrow high-grade hits at Hamelin (December 22, 2005)

Four early-stage drill holes at the Hamelin zone in Vassan Twp., northwest of Val d’Or, Que., have intersected high-grade gold mineralization over narrow widths, owner Stellar Pacific Ventures (SPX-V) reports.

Four drill holes intersected quartz veins with sulphides, grading into semi-massive and massive sulphides, along a near-vertical east-northeast-striking structure. The mineralization has a shallow plunge to the east.

Hole V2005-01 intersected two zones, one of 0.7 metres grading 32.1 grams gold per tonne and another of 0.3 metres grading 27 grams. Hole V2005-02 cut four zones, 0.5 to 1.9 metres wide, with lower grades, including 8.5 grams per tonne over 0.8 metres and 5.1 grams over 1.9 metres.

A third hole, V2005-04, intersected 1.1 metres grading 24.5 grams per tonne.

Problems with drill deviation have limited the company’s ability to investigate the structure but Stellar Pacific hopes to have better drill hole spacing in future programs.
