Marathon PGM sees higher grades in Marathon Main Zone

Marathon PGM (MAR-V) has released new results of infill and extension drilling on the Marathon copper-palladium-platinum deposit in the Port Coldwell igneous complex near Marathon, Ont.

The new holes are testing the continuity and extent of the known resource at Marathon, which contains 23.1 million tonnes grading 0.39% copper, 1.38 grams palladium, 0.35 gram platinum and 0.12 gram gold per tonne in a measured and indicated resource. The new drilling is meant to bring inferred resources into a higher category.

Three new holes in the Main Zone intersected significant base metal and platinum-group mineralization, including M05-105 which cut a 58-metre length grading 0.28% copper, 0.8 gram palladium, 0.17 gram platinum, and 0.08 gram gold per tonne. The true width of the intersection is estimated at 45 metres, and it included a higher-grade interval, 18 metres long, that ran 0.38% copper, 1.41 grams palladium, 0.37 gram platinum and 0.15 gram gold.

Holes M05-107 and M05-108 each intersected multiple mineralized zones, including an 18-metre core length in M05-107 that graded 0.45% copper with 1.23 grams palladium, 0.32 gram platinum and 0.14 gram gold per tonne. The best zone in M05-108 ran 0.42% copper with 1.31 grams palladium, 0.36 gram platinum and 0.14 gram gold per tonne over 12 metres.

Marathon PGM hopes to have a new resource calculated on the property in the first quarter of next year.
