Vancouver Western Keltic Mines (WKM-V) has formally entered the environmental assessment process as a first step toward developing a polymetallic mine at the Kutcho Creek project situated 90 km east of Dease Lake, in northwestern B.C.
The project hosts several massive sulphide deposits that were explored by previous operators in the 1970s and 1980s. Previous work programs combined with recent drilling by Western Keltic have delineated resources in two main deposits, Kutcho and Esso West.
The Kutcho deposit hosts a measured and indicated resource of 13.1 million tonnes grading 1.94% copper, 2.59% zinc, 33.7 grams silver and 0.41 gram gold per tonne, using a 0.5% copper cutoff grade. The nearby Esso West deposit hosts an indicated resource of 2.1 million tonnes grading 3.3% copper, 5.8% zinc, 75.7 grams silver and 0.71 gram gold. These estimates are compliant with National Instrument 43-101 reporting standards.
Drilling is continuing at the property to expand resources at the two deposits, and to test other targets considered prospective for massive sulphide deposits.
As part of the environmental and permitting process, Western Keltic is preparing materials that will be used for consultations with interested parties in the region this fall.
