Ongoing reverse-circulation drilling by Jilbey Gold (JLB-V) has returned some impressive gold values from the Bissa property in Burkina Faso.
The latest round of drilling was designed to outline resources in the Bissa Southwest area, and further extend the Bissa Hill deposit.
At Bissa Southwest, drill results are highlighted by hole no. 79, which yielded 4 metres (from 63 metres below surface) running 10 grams gold per tonne. The hole also returned 7 metres (from 39 m) grading 4.9 grams gold, and 14 metres (from 74 m) of 1.1 grams.
Other highlights include hole 80, which returned 4 metres (from 83 m) of 3.1 grams gold, and 3 metres (from 103 m) of 4.8 grams. The best interval from hole 81 runs 10.2 grams gold over 2 metres, beginning 61 metres below surface. All three of the holes were sunk within around 50 metres of each other.
The three remaining holes on the zone generally returned between 0.5 and 1.8 grams gold over similar widths. All of the holes encountered multiple mineralized intervals.
Meanwhile four holes on the southern extension of the Bissa Hill deposit, about 700 metres to the south, are highlighted by hole 73, which yielded 4 metes (from 17 m) averaging 37.5 grams gold, and 8 metres (from 48 m) of 17.9 grams. Among the multiple intervals in hole 71 is a 2-metre stretch (from 59 m,) containing 15.7 grams gold. The two remaining holes returned lower grades over similar intervals.
Jilbey has added a second drill to the ongoing campaign, and will focus on detailing the high-grade areas.
Bissa mineralization has been intersected over at least 5.5 km along the Sabce shear zone. The deposit remains open in all directions, and at depth.
Jilbey CEO Greg Isenor says the latest results suggest that high-grade mineralization at Bissa strikes northwest to southeast, perpendicular to the main zones.
At last count the Bissa Hill deposit was reported to contain a measured and indicated resource of some 150,000 oz. of gold at an average grade of 3.3 grams gold per tonne. Jilbey plans to update Bissa’s resource estimate by the end of the year.
