Vancouver – Cassidy Gold’s (CDY-V) latest round of drilling has extended the Sanu Filanan zone on its wholly-owned Kouroussa property in Guinea, West Africa, by another 20%, to 850 metres. The drilling stepped out another 150 metres progressively northwestwards along the Sanu Filanan structure, which remains open in all directions. The latest results from the 12 diamond drill holes (1,660 metres) into the Sanu Filanan zone, returned 11 significant intercepts in seven of the holes. The best results include:

  • Hole KD126 returned 9.23 grams gold per tonne over 7.78 metres true thickness from a depth of 155 metres. Two more significant intercepts are found further down the hole;
  • Hole KD127, collared 30 metres behind KD125 (32.11 grams over 9.19 metres) encountered the same mineralized zone, averaging 10.25 metres of 6.96 grams from 119 metres down-hole;
  • Hole KD128 stepped 25 metres north of KD125, and intersected the zone where it grades 39.63 grams over 6.43 metres, starting from 74.7 metres down-hole;
  • Hole KD132 intersected two mineralized zones – the upper believed to be a new structure, starts at 55.8 metres and runs 85.27 grams over 1.91 metres whereas the lower runs 4.4 grams over 3.54 metres starting from 143 metres down-hole is believed to be the main mineralized structure.

Kouroussa is envisaged as an open-pit mine, with underground potential. The property encompasses some 880 sq. km.

The results have been very encouraging and attest to the strength of the mineralizing system on the property.These results are expected to add to RGS’s resource estimate which is nearing completion, although it won’t be part of it.

“We know that a lot of the recent drilling results won’t be incorporated yet, but we will be able to add ounces fairly quickly”, says James Gilles, company president. “That’s because the current drilling is geared towards adding ounces.”

The resource is based on diamond drilling of a 600 metre strike length of the Sanu Filanan zone and some 300 metres of the JJ zone. The two subparallel, en-echelon zones, are about 300-400 metres apart.

Cassidy is targeting the strike extent of the Sanu Filanan and JJ zones and the area between the two zones through its current reverse circulation (RC) drill program. Assay results are expected in the next few weeks for some 2,500 metres of RC drilling done so far. RC drilling is slated for five other zones on the property as well.

Cassidy plans another six diamond drill holes in the X-Vein area to follow up on previous intercepts of 4.32 grams gold over 7.8 metres and 151.8 grams over 2 metres.
