Vancouver — Starfield Resources (SRU-V) has recently completed more two more step-out diamond as well as a number of infill holes at its Ferguson lake Ni-Cu-Co-PGM project in Nunavut, Canada.
Hole FL02-105a, was designed to test the down-dip extension of the West zone mineralized horizon that was intersected last year in holes 84 and 92. Mineralized sections from FL02-105a have been sent for assay.
Hole FL02-112, represents an 800 metre step-out west of hole FL01-101. Hole 112 intersected the target horizon at a drill depth of 1,321 metres and mineralized sections have been sent for assay. This drill has been moved to again test the horizon further up-dip.
Starfield has moved the drill crew from hole 105a to the eastern portion of the West zone to define potential open-pit mineralization near surface in this area. Mineral resources for the eastern shallower part of West Zone are based mainly on 50 drill holes. The area hosts a resource containing 8,076,363 tonnes grading 1.07% copper, 0.83% nickel, 1.53 grams palladium and 0.20 grams platinum per tonne using a 1.5% copper+nickel cutoff grade. This resource includes 2.5 million tonnes averaging 1.18% copper, 1.04% nickel, 1.78 grams palladium and 0.29 grams platinum at a 2.0% copper+nickel cutoff grade.
Starfeild reports that the current 21-hole program is designed to provide sufficient drill information to upgrade the resource to a higher category by confirming upper and lower limits of the known massive sulphide lenses. In addition drilling in this area will also target low sulphide enriched palladium-platinum zones demonstrated to occur in the footwall of the West Zone massive sulphides.
Results from infill holes FL02-113, 114 and 115 situated in the eastern part of the West zone are as follows:
- Hole FL-114 intersected 5.26 metres averaging 0.33% copper, 0.43% nickel, 0.050% cobalt, 0.91 gram palladium and 0.04 gram platinum, starting 11.0 metres down-hole. This included a 1.49-metre section that averaged 0.42% copper, 0.45% nickel, 0.055% cobalt, 0.99 gram palladium and 0.07 gram platinum. At a depth of 22.12 metres, the hole cut a 14.44 metre section that assayed 0.99% copper, 0.64% nickel, 0.078% cobalt, 1.54 grams palladium and 0.21 gram platinum. This included a 7-metre interval that averaged 0.97% copper, 0.84% nickel, 0.105% cobalt, 1.82 grams palladium and 0.29 gram platinum.
- Hole FL-115 intersected 7.33 metres grading 1.0% copper, 0.19% nickel, 0.028% cobalt, 0.53 gram palladium and 0.11 gram platinum, starting 105.34 metres down-hole. This included a 3.48-metre section that averaged 1.83% copper, 0.25% nickel, 0.033% cobalt, 0.76 gram palladium and 0.12 gram platinum. At a depth of 129.32 metres, the hole cut 4.45 metres averaging 0.52% copper, 0.21% nickel, 0.030% cobalt, 0.92 gram palladium and 0.15 gram platinum. Two more intervals were cut at 152.4 and 158.6 metres down-hole, respectively. The first interval cut 2.19 metres grading 0.09% copper, 0.11% nickel, 0.016% cobalt, 1.79 grams palladium and 1.35 grams platinum. The second interval cut 6.05 metres averaging 0.31% copper, 0.42% nickel, 0.054% cobalt, 1.31 grams palladium and 0.09 gram platinum.
- Hole FL-113 was drilled above the zone and failed to intersect mineralization.
