Detour leads Tradewinds to high-grade M zone

Drilling by Trade Winds Ventures (TWD-T) and Pelangio Mines (PLG-T) on their Detour Lake Block A joint venture property continues to hit multiple high grade gold intercepts. The property is just west of the past-producing Detour Lake mine, 180 km northeast of Timmins, Ont.

Highlights from three holes completed in June indicate that high grade gold is not confined to the M zone, but also occurs locally in a sericitic, felsic dyke, or silicious, quartz zone along the hanging wall contact and associated with quartz veining in pillowed basalt.

In hole 012A, this dyke assayed 15.66 grams gold over 5 metres. Included in this interval is a 1-metre intercept that contained visible gold and assayed 71.9 grams gold per tonne. The upper contact of the M zone graded 14.45 grams gold over 0.5 metre. This hole was a step-out, testing the zone 120 metres up-dip from a previous hole.

Hole 013, on a section 500 metres east of hole 012A, also intersected a quartz zone above the M zone, with quartz veining that contained visible gold. This graded 22.3 grams gold over 2.1 metres. Within this interval, a 0.5-metre intercept graded 85.9 grams gold. The hanging wall of the M zone graded 1.58 grams gold over 7.65 metres. This included a 0.5-metre interval containing a visible gold-bearing quartz vein that graded 14.5 grams gold per tonne.

Another hole was a step-out that tested the up-dip potential of the footwall of the M zone. This resulted in an intersection grading 3.26 grams gold over 8.7 metres. This includes a 0.81-metre intercept that grades 17.5 grams gold. Once again visible gold was noted in a quartz vein. Other intercepts with visible gold assayed 38.8 grams gold over 0.9 metre and 19.93 grams gold over 1.5 metres.

Trade Winds is focusing its drilling along an 850-metre strike length of the M zone. Holes have been targeted to test the zone at depths of up to 1100 metres below surface. Assay results have yet to be received for several holes and drilling is on going.

Trade Winds has an option to earn 50% of the Detour Lake Block A property.
