Partners advance Bayaguana

Vancouver — Everton Resources (EVR-V) and partner Globestar Mining (GMI-V) have completed a first-phase drill program and have tabled new copper-in-soil results on the Bayaguana group of properties in the Dominican Republic.

A four-hole drill program was completed last week on the Trinidad North copper target in order to test induced polarization geophysical conductors that are coincident with a 1,600-by-300-metre copper-in-soil anomaly. The target is situated 1.4 km north of the Trinidad South target.

In addition two holes were drilled at the Dona Amanda copper deposit. The deposit hosts and inferred resource of 45.5 million tonnes averaging 0.45% copper and 0.22 gram gold per tonne. The project consists of a blanket of secondary sulphide mineralization up to 120 metres thick, starting from a depth of 10 metres below surface. The mineralization is hosted in porphyritic and tuff-brecciated dacites related to surrounding Pueblo Viejo-style volcanic domes.

Assay results are expected in the next three weeks. Another round of drilling on this target is planned for March. Lakefield Laboratories has been hired to perform metallurgical testing on the two new drill holes.

Everton also reports that a new anomalous copper-in-soil result anomaly with values up to 476 ppm copper were obtained from a 516-soil sample survey performed last fall in the vicinity of the Dona Loretta copper prospect.

The anomalies are distributed in three different clusters covering a total area of 2 sq. km. One of the clusters is situated 200 meters northwest of historical hole CC-07 which cut 24.14 metres averaging 2.03% copper and 0.3 gram gold. A follow-up exploration program consisting of an IP geophysical survey is planned to be conducted in March prior to drilling.

In other news, the partners have released results from a first phase drill program at the Trinidad South prospect. The 19 hole, 1,770 metre program, was designed to test selected coinciding targets of induced polarization geophysical conductors and rock samples in a 2.5-by-1.3-km gold-in-soil anomaly area. Highlights are as follows;

  • Hole LG-09 averaged 0.76 gram gold over 5 metres.
  • Hole LG-15 averaged 0.31 gram gold over 4.45 metres.
  • Hole LG-16 averaged 0.29 gram gold over 11.13 metres
  • Hole LG-17 averaged 0.47 gram gold over 6.25 metres. This included a 1 metre section that averaged 1.92 grams gold.
  • Hole LG-22 averaged 1.33 grams gold over 1.52 metres.

The next phase of drilling, scheduled to commence in March, will focus on new sectors within the Trinidad South anomaly area.

Everton stands to earn a 50% interest from GlobeStar at the Bayaguana project by spending US$1.5-million over two years. Everton must spend an additional US$500,000 before GlobeStar is required to finance its share of exploration expenditures.
