SUMMARY:Iran Mining Technology Summit
DESCRIPTION:IMT – Iran Mining Technology Summit is the first and strategically timed event which will bring together world class suppliers\, solution providers and leading stakeholders in the mining sector on an exclusive platform to benchmark latest technologies that are empowering the mining industry with efficiency\, safety and profitability. \nThe Summit will bring to the forefront\, cutting edge technologies that are spearheading innovation in the mining industry. The only way to improve productivity is through mechanization of all processes and optimal automation of mining equipment. Mechanization not only increases efficiency\, it also boosts mine safety through technologies that take workers away from the most dangerous areas. The Event will give an insight into state of the art technologies implemented by the industry that go even beyond automation to optimizing your business processes and increasing value of your investments. \nThe IMT Summit will also give an opportunity to discuss strategic issues associated with the industry and technology adoption. SUMMARY:Exhibit Lecture by Mindy S. Vogel
DESCRIPTION:On April 13\, Mindy S. Vogel\, a Forest Service geologist\, will present a lecture entitled “Rock\, Paper\, Forest Service: A Summary of Mining and Permitting on Forest Service Lands.” This lecture is in pairing with the Western Museum of Mining & Industry’s new exhibit\, “Minerals You Use Every Day from the National Forests.” Light refreshments will be offered. The museum requests that those interested in attending please contact the museum to reserve a spot. Please call 719-488-0880 or respond by e-mail at rsvp@wmmi.org. \nThis exhibit consists of an interactive component from the National Museum of Forest Service History and a selection of minerals from WMMI’s collection. Whether we realize it or not\, modern civilization is heavily dependent on minerals for everything from computers and electricity to toothpaste and makeup. This exhibit highlights this importance and demonstrates how America’s national forests help supply the country’s mineral needs. This exhibit will be open through June 3.

SUMMARY:“A Tale of Two Husteds” lecture by Jack Anthony
DESCRIPTION:The Palmer Lake Historical Society and the Western Museum of Mining & Industry are pleased to announce the second presentation of “A Tale of Two Husteds” by Jack Anthony!\nAbout six miles south of Palmer Lake\, East Husted and West Husted sprang up as railroad “tank towns” for the Denver & Rio Grande and the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe railroads. The two Husted depots midway between Colorado Springs and Palmer Lake became a place to pick up passengers and shipments of agricultural products. Both were thriving communities until the early 1920s. Then\, development of the United States Air Force Academy in the mid-1950s caused the remaining buildings to be either moved or demolished. Only the Reynolds Ranch House remains\, still in its original location east of Interstate 25 on the property of the Western Museum of Mining & Industry on Colorado Springs’ north side.\nJack Anthony is a graduate of the Air Force Academy. For almost 40 years\, he has served in various military\, intelligence\, and NASA roles as an engineer\, educator\, leader\, and operator. Jack successfully spear-headed the effort to have the Palmer Lake Star included on the State Register of Historic Properties. His presentation includes both sides and a short video.
